2017 Corporate Sponsorship Drive NOW UNDERWAY!

Today marks the beginning of our 2017-2018 Corporate Sponsorship Drive!

Our Corporate Sponsorship program allows community and student-minded businesses to assist in the funding of the Northwestern Band, most specifically in its endeavors during the competitive marching band season.

Many students are able to completely pay off their Band Shares via corporate sponsorships. This is an excellent program to take advantage of!

Please help us reach our goal of $25,000 in Corporate and Business Sponorships!

Northwestern Band Earns Prestigious ISSMA Awards

Through its performance virtues throughout the 2016-2017 school year, the Northwestern High School Band has earned two very prestigious awards from the Indiana State School Music Association (ISSMA).

Northwestern competed at the ISSMA Concert Organization Festival at Marion High School on Friday, April 21. For the Band's performance, they earned a GOLD rating, and added another GOLD rating in the sight-reading portion of competition.

This GOLD rating was the final piece of the puzzle to achieve the ISSMA All-Music Award, the first All-Music Award in Northwestern Band's history. The ISSMA All-Music Award is presented to Bands in Indiana for excellence in the following areas:

GOLD in Marching Band

(Northwestern actually earned 2 GOLDs in Marching Band, in addition to earning a spot in the ISSMA State Marching Band Finals)

GOLD Soloist and Ensemble at State Solo/Ensemble Contest

(Northwestern had 7 soloists and 3 ensembles earn GOLD at ISSMA State Solo/Ensemble Contest)

GOLD in Jazz

(Northwestern earned GOLD and also had a student recognized as Outstanding Improv Soloist at the ISSMA Jazz Festival)

GOLD in Concert Band

(Northwestern earned a GOLD in both Performance and Sight-Reading)

In addition to the year-long success of the Northwestern Band, the Northwestern Choir earned an ISSMA All-Music Award as well. This success of the Northwestern Music Department as a whole has earned Northwestern High School the highly distinguished ISSMA All-Department Award. To describe just how difficult it is to achieve the ISSMA All-Department Award, you only need to know that in 2015-2016, out of 736 high schools in Indiana, only 11 earned the ISSMA All-Department Award. This also marks the first ISSMA All-Department Award in Northwestern history.

The Northwestern Band was selected to serve as the ISSMA Class D representative in the Indianapolis 500 Festival parade through downtown Indianapolis on May 27, 2017.

Northwestern will hold their Spring Concert on May 15, 2017 at 6:30 pm in the Northwestern Auditorium. The Northwestern Jazz Band will perform on May 13 at Kokomo High School in the Java + Jazz program, and will also perform at RibFest on June 10 at Foster Park.

Congratulations to all students, parents, and supporters who were involved in our wonderful success this year!
